Grace and Peace to you from God the Father and from our Lord Jesus Christ.

The purpose of this page is to give you many types of verses. There are challenging verses, encouraging verses, applicable verses, humorous verses and verses that aren't even there. This page is really worth printing out.

My favorite verses:

Philippians 1:21- For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.

1 Thessalonians 3:8- For now we really live, since you are standing firm in the Lord.

James 2:18,19- But someone will say, "You have faith; I have deeds." Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by what I do. You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that-and shudder.

2 Timothy 4:7- I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.

Encouraging verses:

** We all have times where we feel down and we need to be reminded of what God is willing to do for us. I hope that these verses will be an encouragement to all who read them.

John 3:16,7- For god so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

** Verse 16 was given to me by Plin007 and MrsWPoohl, verse 17 was given to me by Thndrtougu.

Proverbs 16:3- Commit to the Lord whatever you do and your plans will succeed.

Proverbs 18:10- The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.

Romans 8:18- I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.

Romans 8:28- And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

Romans 8:31,32- What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all-how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?

what the heck you might as well read all of Romans chapter 8.

James 5:16- ...The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.

Psalm 118:6,7- The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me? The Lord is with me; he is my helper. I will look in triumph on my enemies.

2 Timothy 4:18- The Lord will rescue me from every evil attack and will bring me safely to his heavenly kingdom. To him be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

2 Thessalonians 3:3- But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen and protect you from the evil one.

Philippians 4:19- And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.

Isn't that great. That is a promise from God. God will meet all your needs. Maybe right now your thinking, God isn't meeting my need right now I'm really hurting right now and it seems like God doesn't care. There is an answer to this dilemma and it is found in Mathew chapter 7 verses 7 and 8 where it says, "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened." So do you need peace, ask God for peace. Need joy, ask God for joy. When you ask however remember these two things. !) Pray according to God's will. In James 4:3 it says, "When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures. 2) Have faith in your prayer. James 1:6 thru 8 says "But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does." Remember these two things and you will receive all that you ask for. And when you do recieve remember to give the glory to God who answers all your prayers.

Proverbs 11:8- The righteous man is rescued from trouble, and it comes on the wicked instead.

Isaiah 40:29-31- He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Challenging verses:

A common trap for Christians is to think they are ok in their faith and not make any effort to further it. They are satisfied right where they are. Jesus has a name for these types of Christians and it's found in the book of Revelation chapter 3 verses 15 and 16. "I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm-neither hot nor cold-I am about to spit you out of my mouth." Wow!! God doesn't seem to think that we are ok just where we are. In Young Life they compare the Christian walk to walking up a down escalator. The minute you stop walking you start to go down. The author of Hebrews talks about advancing your faith, here is what he has to say (ch 5 verse 11 and ch 6 verse 1) "...by the time you ought to be teaching, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God's word all over again. . . . Therefore let us leave the elementary teachings about Christ and go on to maturity..." These verses are designed to challenge you. If your looking to grow in your relationship with Christ why don't you try this. Pick one verse and make that your verse for the week. Read it and pray that God would help you to grow in that area. After doing this everyday for a week you will probably have memorized the verse and you will have grown in that area of your relationship with Christ. Then pick a different verse for the next week.

1 Peter 2:12- Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.

1 Peter 3:15-17- ...Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander. It is better, if it is God's will, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil.

1 John 2:28- And now, dear children, continue in him, so that when he appears we may be confident and unashamed before him at his coming.

James 1:19,20- My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, for man's anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires.

James 1:22-25- Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a mean who looks at his face in a mirror and after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it-he will be blessed in what he does.

Philemon 6- I pray that you may be active in sharing your faith, so that you will have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ.

Thessalonians 5:16-18- Be joyful always, pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.

Psalm 19:14- May the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.

Mathew 6:25,27,34- Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life. . . . Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life . . . .Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Humorous verses

** Give beer to dying people, bears eating bratty kids, Noah was an alien, only people who don't "soil their clothes" go to heaven. God definatly has a great sense of humor. I feel I must make mention of something before you read the humorous verses. The Bible is written by men but it is actually God's words. Therefor we say the Bible is divinely inspired. This means that God let these people know what he wanted them to write, either by telling them directly or by putting the words in their head. These verses are funny because they are taken out of context. Each verse has an important meaning and if you read more of the surrounding verses you will see the important meaning of each verse.

Proverbs 31:6- Give beer to those who are perishing, wine to those who are in anguish.

Proverbs 26:11- As a dog returns to its vomit, so a fool repeats his folly. Revelation 3:4- Yet you have a few people in Sardis who have not soiled their clothes. They will walk with me, dressed in white for they are worthy.

Proverbs 16:31- Gray is a crown of splendor: it is attained by a righteous life.

Proverbs 21:9- Better to live on a corner of the roof than share a house with a quarrelsome wife.

Deuteronomy 14:21- Do not eat anything you find already dead. You may give it to an alien living in any of your towns and he may eat it, or you may sell it to a foreigner...

Hebrews 11:13- ...And they admitted that they [Abel, Enoch, Noah, and Abraham.] were aliens and strangers on earth.

Job 13:5- If only you would be altogether silent! For you, that would be wisdom.

** This is a great verse to give one of your friends to encourage them in their Christian walk. (ha ha) This hilarious verse was shared with me by EssEff 10.

2 Kings 2:23-24- From there Elisha went up to Bethel. As he was walking along the road some youths came out of the town and jeered at him. "Go on up, you baldhead!" they said. "Go on up, you baldhead!" He turned around, and looked at them and called down a curse on them in the name of the Lord. Then two bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of the youths.

Job 13:21- Withdraw your hand far from me, and stop frightening me with your terrors.

Psalm 146:9- The Lord watches over the alien...

Proverbs 1:26- I in turn will laugh at your disaster; I will mock when calamity overtakes you

Non-existent verses:

** There are many manuscripts that the current Bible is translated from. Every once in a while there are certain words, phrases, or sentences that appear in some of the manuscripts but not others. The King James version contains all of the words even if they are not in all the manuscripts. However the NIV sometimes makes a footnote of these words or phrases, that did not appear in all the ancient manuscripts, instead of putting them in the normal text. Usually this is nothing because it is only one or two words but sometimes they leave out whole verses, and instead make them footnotes. So your reading verse 14 then all of a sudden your reading verse 16. Oh no, where did verse 15 go. Don't worry theres a footnote of it at the bottom of the page. Remember though if you are reading a King James Bible the verse will be in the regular text. Now after saying all that here are the non-existent verses:

Mathew 17:21

Mathew 18:11

Mathew 23:14

Mark 9:44,46

Mark 15:28

John 5:4
